On Wednesday, August 11, 2010, the Korean American Voters’ Council and the outreach team for the New Voting machines came together, with the help of the Korean American Senior Voters’ Federation Branch of Jamaica, to demonstrate the new voting machines to many seniors at St. Pius V Senior Apartment, located in Jamaica.

That day, the interns of the Korean American Voters’ Council helped explain the new voting machines with the lead of the Board of Elections member Mirang Jo, who is the main organizer for this event. They helped to explain, in Korean, how to complete and submit the ballots to many Korean elderly voters. They surprisingly found it easy and completed the task quickly.

But, the Chinese elderly voters did not have Chinese translations and had a difficult time trying to understand this new voting process. That day there was Korean, Chinese, English and even Spanish elderly voters who came to learn the new voting process.

The interns of the Korean American Voters’ Council even helped elderly Koreans who spoke English with clear explanations.
